Dear Parents and Students,
The week of February 27th-March 3rd, 2012 will be Right to Read Week at Falls-Lenox. In addition to other activities, we are excited to welcome author and illustrator Steve Harpster to our school on Monday, February 27th. Mr. Harpster has offered to meet with a few students during lunch on the day of his presentation. This is an excellent opportunity for students to meet and speak with a published author in a small group.
We are holding an art contest to determine who will attend. Students may participate in the contest if they wish, though it is not a requirement.
Contest entries must be an original drawing inspired by a favorite book and are due to the library by Thursday, February 23, 2012.
Students must label the back of their picture with the following:
Their full name – grade level – and their teacher’s name, in addition to the name of the book that inspired the illustration
Two winners from each grade level will be selected. All students who submit an entry will receive a certificate of recognition. Winners will be contacted Monday, February 27th and will be instructed to bring their lunch to the library that afternoon to meet with Mr. Harpster. Winners will also receive a certificate, have their artwork displayed in the lobby and will be featured on the morning show!
More information regarding Right to Read Week activities and Mr. Harpster’s books will be forthcoming. If you have any questions regarding the art contest or the lunch with Mr. Harpster, please contact the Falls-Lenox Media Center at 427-6425.
