Dear Second Grade Parents,
We will be taking our first field trip to Hale Farm and Village in Bath, Ohio, on Wednesday, September 28, 2011. Hale Farm and Village is a recreated historical town portraying the lives of early settlers to the Western Reserve in 1848. This experience will enrich the second grade Social Studies curriculum with demonstrations of Glassblowers, Blacksmiths, Candle-makers and many craftspeople using techniques and materials from the 1800s. Students will see what pioneer life was really like in a first settlement.
- Students will need to pack a paper-sack lunch with disposable beverages and wrappers.
- Students will need to wear comfortable, weather appropriate clothing. (We go rain or shine. No umbrellas please.)
- Students will need to wear closed toe, comfortable shoes. No flip flops or sandals.
- Students must have a signed permission slip (sent home in backpacks!)
We know that this will be a favorite field trip adventure for your child that will be remembered as a highlight from second grade for years to come.
